jungle baby shower

24 07 2012

My dear friend is having her first baby and I helped plan one of her showers.  She doesn’t know what she’s having so we used a gender neutral jungle theme. We had an awesome pineapple tree (as seen on Pinterest) and veggies as well as some animal cracker cupcakes in vanilla and raspberry lemonade and some jungle juice (I will reduce the amount of sugar next time).

I also made her some handmade gifts.  I had posted this cute giraffe softie on Pinterest and she loved it, so I made her one to match her nursery.

I also made a couple of gauze baby blankets, one of them I left white but the other I ombre dyed.

And here is the basket liner I made.  I also made her valance and crib skirt but I didn’t pull the pictures off my phone.

Her baby should be here within the next two weeks.  I wish her a quick and healthy delivery!

Happy Pres. Day, the party, and the Valentine box

21 02 2011

Happy President’s Day.  I’m enjoying my day off from school with my kids.  I probably should post the surprise birthday party pics, a week later.  It was my MIL’s 60th birthday and I was in charge of frugal decor.  She loves shabby chic so I went with mason jars filled with tissue paper poms.  We used turquoise, red and cream and I made tags for the jars.  It wasn’t the most “done up” party I’ve decorated, but she loved it none the less. I had big tissue paper poms to hang from the ceiling, but when we got there, they told us we couldn’t hang anything from their ceiling, so we laid the poms on the tables instead.

Update on the Valentine box for T4.  He got LAST PLACE.  Yes, they told him he was last.  How horrible for a 2nd grader to be told his box was last.  I was not very happy about the situation. The Lincoln Memorial got first place (what?) so T4 wanted to know if we could make the White House next year.  Too much for a Valentine party in my opinion.  T3 got 2nd place for her Valentine box and she took the locker from last year.  Again I say “what?”  I HATE stupid competitions like that when it’s the parents making the boxes anyway.

Tie Dye Birthday

12 04 2010

T2 turned 13 and wanted to celebrate with a tie dye party.

pillowcase (to tie dye), fun dip (with a tag that says "hope you have fun", and a fun eraser, pencil & clips

Ok, should have gotten the paste instead of the liquid food coloring

We signed the pillowcases with fabric markers.

Scooby Birthday

2 04 2010

For t4’s 5th birthday, he wanted Scooby Doo.

The cake is not great, but T4 LOVED it!. You can’t see clearly, but the blue bowl is a dog bowl full of Scooby Snacks.

Cow Birthday

2 04 2010

I am planning for T2’s birthday next week and T4’s birthday in May and came across these pics of the cow birthday when T4 turned 2.

In addition to the cupcake toppers and the goody bag toppers, I made a mini coloring book with the letter and an animal for each guest and a mini crayon  box personalized for each guest. I didn’t take pictures of the party favors 😦 I know better now!
