gallery wall

25 09 2011

I’ve MIA lately in the blog world. Two volleyball games a week for T1, soccer for T3 & 4, youth and Awana (I do cubbie crafts) at church plus teaching, being a mom and wife & trying to walk 4 miles of an evening for exercise.  I meet myself coming and going most days. This gallery wall has been a few weeks in the making and I’m still missing T1’s picture.  She took the pics of T2-4 but wasn’t happy with the pics the Mr. T and I took of her so I plan to use her volleyball pic (I have to see if I can order an 8×10 from the photographer for not TONS of money.) I had all the frames, just gave the a fresh coat of paint for the wall.  I made the latitude/longitude art (see the inspiration on my pinterest.) I still feel like it needs something more, but it’s a good start.

another big basket

11 09 2011

I got around to making another big basket (12x12x12) to fill an order. What I forgot to do was make the tutorial as I went.  I do have another order so I’ll try not to for get it the next time.  I used denim for the outside and changed up how I made it a little, putting the stiffy on the lining instead of the outside. I’m still having trouble keeping the band around the top from puckering, but I hope as I make more that works itself out.  This was for a little boy named Xavier and the plan is to use the basket for toys.  I love how the denim works with the bright colors.

For those wanting a tutorial, I will get one done.  I realized I had forgotten about halfway into the project.

baby Z is here

8 09 2011

He was born on Sept 4 (yes, this post is a little overdue!) and was 8 lb. 14 oz. and was 21 in. long.  Look at that cute shirt (Easter project) and blanket (from the baby Z post) he’s sporting. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a baby in the family so I’m looking forward to some baby projects!

This was the day he came home from the hospital, isn’t he super cute! I can’t wait to hold the little guy.

chocolate stash

1 09 2011

T3 & T4 have a school carnival coming up and each class puts together a gift basket according to a theme for the silent auction.  T3’s theme was chocolate and T4’s theme was car care.  I bought some Febreze for the car (which T4 just said he sat on in the bus and some squirted out, UGH) and put some quarters in a recycled jar and vinylized it with carwash cash.  It’s a bit lame, but car care is tough to make something for.  Chocolate, on the other hand, is my thing :). I made a 5 x 5 x 5 basket with a chocolate stash label and put some Dove chocolates in it.  I might have to bid on this basket, OR  just make one for myself!
